Description
Louis Jadot own plots in many of the greatest vineyards in Burgundy, and while their most iconic wines such as Musigny, Clos de Beze and Chevalier Montrachet steal the limelight, it's their superb Corton Charlemagne which is proving to be among the benchmark wines of its appellation. Located within the Corton Pougets sub-climat, this plot is on more rocky soil, located on the border where red Corton plantings meet white plantings. Here we have a powerful yet polite Corton Charlemagne that's superbly balanced with fine mineralité. The 2022 Jadot Corton Charlemagne closely nudges the 2017 as the finest young Jadot Corton Charlemagne I have seen, and while this may be approached early, those who cellar this for any period of time will reap rewards. A magnificent wine.
"The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, which is continuing its élevage in foudre, unwinds in the glass with notes of citrus oil, pear, hazelnuts, fresh mint and subtle reduction. Full-bodied, layered and chalky, with a rich core of fruit that's still youthfully tightly wound, it concludes with a long, resonant finish. It's one of the high points of the range this year." - 95 Points William Kelley robertparker.com
