"Montalto makes impeccable wines. It’s a producer you can rely on. This release is cherried and strawberried, as a base, though tomato leaf, cedarwood, sweet spice and undergrowth characters all play roles. There’s plenty going on here but it is, all the same, a wine built on structure. Juicy, strawberried, integrated acidity races throughout. Tannin, which comes across as twigs rolled in velvet, is a key feature too, though not at the expense of the fruit’s momentum.
