Description
"The 2023 vintage brought lower than average yields and cooler conditions throughout the growing season. Fruit quality was excellent with small bunches and berries providing superb concentration of flavours and good acid balance. Half the pleasure of riesling for us is the delicate floral perfume reminiscent of gardenias and orange blossom and which the 2023 Freycinet Riesling reveals in spades. The vibrant yet elegant palate offers a heady mix of citrus, green apple, white nectarine and gentle spice, complemented by a crisp and refreshing minerality. The excellent natural acid retention of a cool vintage, balanced with 2.94 g/L of residual sugar delivers scintillating tension. This wine has all the hallmarks of a classic Riesling vintage, built for the long haul in the cellar. The elegance and refreshment qualities of the wine make it a perfect accompaniment to all lighter flavoured fine foods particularly seafood, or it can be simply enjoyed on its own." - Winemaker Notes
"Excellent maritime riesling. Rapier-like freshness delivered across a juicy mid-palate saturated with lemon peel, finger lime, sea salt and raw quince accents. A long trail of succulent freshness, with nothing hard, brittle or too dry, a dollop of sweetness delivered to fine effect: immaculate poise and giddy, mid-weighted drinkability. Drink or hold." - 94 Points, Ned Goodwin MW, JamesSuckling.com
