Description
"The One Terroir release is not just a single soil type expression set, it is a set of wines that have the complexity and power to cellar long term. They are an investment, they can be drunk young but their full potential will come with 5+ years of cellaring. They are from only the best soil types on the family Granton estate vineyard at lower yields. Specific barrels are chosen for each cuvee and natural winemaking techniques are pushed further to enhance the full potential of their terroirs.
The 2022 One Terroir Pinot Noir is from one parcel of pinot off gravelly clay higher up on the estate hill, it is more exposed to westernly weather conditions and produces a low crop with great phenolic ripeness especially in 2022 when it was a cooler, more drawn out season. I use 100% whole bunch on this cuvee as it has good phenolic ripeness in the stems and typically ferment it for 2 weeks with foot stomping to break the cap up (no sulfur during fermentation). I find with my whole bunch wines that it takes them a few hours to open up, I would recommend decanting. Don't expect it to be cherries and vanilla because it is not, it is a wine for the brain, watch it and sip it over 3 days if you can. Great with food. As it has already had one year in bottle but needs more time. From certified biodynamic vineyards. " - Winemaker notes
