Description
"Alión is made from a careful selection of terroirs spread across the best areas of the Ribera del Duero designation of origin. These complementary soils, combined with the same viticulture practiced in Vega Sicilia, have resulted in wines with a firm structure. 2020 was a drier than usual vintage, until the harvest. In September, there were heavy rains, which is what characterized this vintage. The grapes were very healthy, but the effect of those rains was to dilute them. To harvest, we had to wait for the grapes to concentrate again, but the result was more balanced, fresher, and more vertical wines. This was a vintage where we were able to extract more since the skins were highly polymerized, and where we were able to give the American oak a little more weight, increasing it by 4%. The cement contribution helped us improve the verticality and freshness of the wines." - Producer Notes
