Description

"Alongside its Central counterpart, fractions of the Western blocks were bottled separately to highlight their striking contrasts as well as their show their role in the main Estate blend.  The 1997 & 1998 blocks occupy the western boundary of our vineyard but are easterly in aspect resulting in reduced exposure to the afternoon sun, making them our coolest parcels of Pinot Noir.  Furthermore, parts of these vineyards share soils that are 430 million-years-old, consisting of ancient seafloor from the Upper Ordovician era.  Overall these factors combine to form wines of delicate fragrance,  powerful yet elegant fruit enveloped in dense yet supple talc-like textures." - Winemaker Notes

"Full and bright ruby to slightly purple in the rim with a hint of orange at the core, the bouquet has orange peel and balsamic herb aromas, with a note of Campari, quite bunchy, the palate bright and fresh with lively acidity and a serious firmness to the tannins—which are nevertheless balanced. There's a meaty/charcuterie layer to this complex wine. Different spectrum of flavours to the other two Curly Flat pinots, but vive la difference." - 95 Points, Huon Hooke, The Real Review
