Description
The Dugat family have been growers in Burgundy's Gevrey-Chambertin since the early 17th century; Loïc and Bernard Dugat-Py represent the 13th generation.
"Les Vaumeuriens-Hauts is at the top of the slope, close to he woods above the village of Pommard. This previously formed part of the former Domaine Newmann. Brightly red-berried, sappy aromas - exotic and soaring. The palate is lithe and vibrant, the whole-bunch spices working with the upbeat raspberry fruit to stunning effect. For me, there is an extra notch of energy here. Vinified in a 10hl concrete dolium. Recommended drinking from 2026 - 2034." - Distributors Notes
"The wines of Domaine Bernard Dugat-Py are considered by Burgundy aficionados to be one of the regions stars and an estate that produces true vin de garde. The domaines work in the vineyard is meticulous and Dugat-Py has been certified organic since 2003 with approximately 7.5 hectares of vineyards predominately in Gevrey-Chambertin, including four of the Grand Crus and small holdings in Vosne-Romanee, Pommard, Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault. Low intervention winemaking in the cellar with grapes picked relatively early, stems included and perfectly judged oak, result in wines that speak clearly of their appellation and age beautifully." - Importers Notes
"Contrary to some practitioners of deep-coloured wines in Gevrey-Chambertin, the grapes are picked relatively early. Stems are usually kept, depending on the vintage, though to a lesser degree for the Charmes-Chambertin whose primary fruit would be masked by the stalks. There is no cool pre-maceration, except whatever may happen naturally, one punch down and one pump over per day during fermentation in cement and wooden vats, and temperatures are not maintained after the fermentation is over. All in all, it is a low intervention regime. The wines are then matured in François Frères barrel, all new from the premiers crus upwards" - Jasper Morris, MW
