Description
A profound and elegant expression of Nebbiolo from Barolo’s highest cru vineyard, rising 400-480 metres above sea level, just beneath the Alps. Named “Hill of Violets” for its early-blooming flowers due to perfect southern exposure, the site benefits from maximum light and dramatic diurnal shifts, contributing to its bright aromatics, refined tannins, and subtle minerality. Planted as early as 1931, the old vines are organically farmed with intense manual care and a strong focus on biodiversity. Aged for 24 months in large Slavonian oak casks, the wine has an ethereal nose of violet, incense, balsamic herbs, and red fruits, leading to a deep, silky palate with black currant, eucalyptus, and a persistent mineral core.
"The 2021 Barolo Bricco delle Viole is a wine of stature and breeding. Vertical in shape, the Bricco delle Viole has so much to offer. Dark-toned fruit, leather, incense, gravel and licorice add an attractive savory edge. The 2021 is an especially somber, potent Bricco delle Viole. I would not dream of touching a bottle anytime soon." - 96 points, Antonio Galloni
