More than any other variety planted in McLaren Vale, Grenache tastes of the place from which it is grown. With this in mind, we created a pair of single site Grenaches [Spice Garden and Silk & Stone], hoping to capture the unique terroir of each sub-region. The Spice Garden vines are grown on white maslin sand, over ironstone. hand-picked, destemmed with some whole cluster retained and fermented wild in open vats. They were hand plunged daily, on skins for 3 weeks. Maturation followed, on gross lees in old French oak puncheons for 7 months before bottling." - Winemaker Notes
