Description
"Bright and earthily fruited, this juicy little wine balances neat, modest tannins and soft red dirt acidity. Mid-weight, round and complete, it displays notes of ripe red and yellow cherries on the nose and the palate. Juicy orchard fruit flavours combine seamlessly with silky undertones of soft minerality, culminating in a long, refreshing finish. ‘Classy’ and ‘delicious’ were two words heard over and over again. Growing up in Spain’s La Rioja, Palacios Remondo winemaker Álvaro Palacios witnessed the ‘dumbing down’ of many local wines into a price-oriented brand with a focus on irrigated, industrial tempranillo. Under his guidance, the vineyards and wines have undergone extraordinary change. Biodynamically grown, low-crop organic plantings of local garnacha dominate, with a scattering of viura, while the tempranillo is brought in from the top growers on the River Ebro’s north shore." - Winemaker Notes
