The most important wine of Ridolfi is undoubtedly the Brunello di Montalcino, which is sourced from vineyards located in the cooler north-eastern side of the DOCG. The terroir here, based on marine clays and the famous ‘galestro’ schist is the last to be harvested in Montalcino, resulting in a mouth-filling yet fresh wine with pent-up energy and very satisfying nuance and complexity. Winemaking is simple and traditional - the fruit spends up to 60 days on skins and is aged entirely in large oak. A beautiful array of red and dark fruits, mint, balsam, leather and an indescribable feel of the bucolic Tuscan landscape, are all on show in this classic Brunello. The wine is shapely in the mouth and gently supported by very fine, integrated tannin.
