Description
"Sourced from the "Les Chalumeaux" vineyard, situated near the Hameau de Blagny on an east-facing hillside with rocky marly limestone soils, this wine benefits from a unique microclimate and soil composition. On the nose, it presents floral aromas intertwined with notes of roasted hazelnuts, all underscored by an elegant minerality. The palate is characterized by a sapid texture, culminating in a sumptuous finish reminiscent of jasmine and nectarine. The wine underwent fermentation with indigenous yeasts and was aged for 11 months in one-year-old Burgundian barrels, allowing it to develop its distinctive character without the influence of new oak." - Producer Notes
"Mid lemon and lime colour. Not picking up much nose at first. It is in the fresher, limier, more floral style of Puligny. Prettier fruit through the middle then the salinity at the back makes you salivate. Really classy. Just keeps going. The best Chalumeaux that I can remember. Drink from 2027-2035." - 93-95 points. "The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Chalumaux 1er Cru is much more expressive on the nose that La Garenne, which is apparently always the way. Quince, Japanese yuzu and wilted yellow flowers infuse the citrus fruit, ahint of frangipane appears with aeration. The palate is very taut and concentrated on the entry, with fine acidity. It’s slightly viscous in texture but holds on to Puligny DNA and fans out wonderfully on the finish. Superb." - 92-94 points. Neal Martin, Vinous Oct 2023
