"Made only in an exceptional vintage, from a unique harvest, the D Millésimé champagne is made up of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, selected from the best plots. It is matured for a further 7 years, revealing all its complexity on the nose and on the palate. Since its birth, DEVAUX has only presented 9 vintages in the D Collection : 1996, 2000, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009,2012 and 2014." - Devaux
"The 2014 Brut Millésimé D is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with just under half of the base wines undergoing malolactic fermentation. The nose is subtle, offering a touch of red and yellow apple and chalk. The palate is fresh and vivid, presenting a lovely apple and lemon verve against deep chalkiness. This wine has such energy and elan, with the Pinot Noir playing second fiddle to Chardonnay brightness while adding a backdrop. Lovely. Dosage is 7.4 grams per liter." - Anne Krebiehl MW
"Strawberry puree with lemon bush and overt viennoiserie. Medium body with savory flavors and super-zesty acidity, fine long bubbles and a structured yet precise finish. Chardonnay and pinot noir. Drink or hold." - 94 points, James Suckling
"The vintage edition of Devaux's D range shows well in 2014, a 'classic' Champenois vintage according to cellar master Michel Parisot. It's an unusual assemblage of 50% each Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs and Pinot Noir from the Côte des Bar. Some of 2014's bright, lime-like acidity from Chardonnay is a welcome shot of energy through the middle of dried apple, hard apricot and sugared tangerine fruit, juicy and easy while smoothed out with some nut-butter richness. It's an approachable, nicely aligned vintage Champagne that offers plenty at the price." - Tom Hewson
