""Late Release is a collection of vintage champagnes whose maturation “sur lattes” has been prolonged by around 10 years and which, after more than two decades of ageing, are revealing themselves to us in a new light as they reach the peak of their expression. Having been carefully preserved for many long years in the complete darkness of the Louis Roederer cellars, in perfect temperature and humidity conditions, these vintage champagnes are now reaching the pinnacle of their potential and are disclosing a new facet of themselves. Juicy, ripe citrus bouquet (Roussillon apricots), followed by a surprisingly lively and fresh aromatic waltz of aromas, blending red berries (wild raspberries, blackcurrants, blueberries) with cocoa powder, mocha and gingerbread. Dynamic on the palate with magnificent vitality and energy, in which we find an endless interplay between freshness and substance with a fabulous acidity cutting through the body of the wine. The wine has a vinous quality about it, with a lovely texture that leads to a powerful, bitter citrus finish firmly rooted in its terroir." - House Notes
"The 1997 vintage was a very tricky one in Champagne, but Louis Roederer's Late Release Vintage Rosé celebrates the slight angularity of the year. A beautiful cushion of lees-ageing creaminess comes from a decade of cellar ageing, followed by flavours of green peppercorn, peach yogurt and dried strawberry with some umami savour. As promised by the Late Release programme, this is a wine that offers gastronomic intrigue." - 92 Points, Tom Hewson, Decanter
