It's wine all the way this weekend, with two stacked Friday and Saturday lineups locked in!
Join us tomorrow afternoon (Friday 22nd) between 4 and 6pm, as we have Ray Costanzo, winemaker for both Golden Grove Estate and Storm King Wine Co. in Queensland's Granite Belt region in to pour his latest drops! We've raved about their Vermentino expressions for years now - a brilliant Italian-inspired expression full of bright crispy florals and fruit with a saline lick to boot - but Ray (alongside wife Jen) also crafts some fantastic reds, including Tempranillo (a varietal with which our state is proving to be a real force), the textural Rosé Brose, and two blends (one a Shiraz Malbec, and the other a Mataro Graciano). We hope you can make it along for what will be a top showcase of just some of the impressive work being done in the Granite Belt.
Then come Saturday 23rd, we know many regulars will be delighted with this one - Stefano Lubiana is set to take centre stage! This proud Tasmanian wine-loving family have history to be proud of. Not only are they always one of the most requested names here in the shop every week, but they have the unique distinction of having been Tasmania's first certified biodynamic vineyard; the wines, totally free of any additives or synthetic treatments, always have a clear-cut sense of brightness and free-flowing elegance, heightened further by their cool Tasmanian climate. In fact, their Pinot Noirs have previously been awarded Best Biodynamic Wine in the World at the London International Wine Challenge (on three separate occasions!) The Chardonnay and Riesling releases also excel with refined purity, and as one would expect from a top Tassie house, the sparkling efforts are simply delicious. The Cuvée Prestige 2011, in particular, has just taken the prize this morning for Sparkling Wine of the Year at the Halliday Wine Companion Awards! All of these will be on full display between 12 and 2pm come Saturday, so be sure not to miss this one.

Riesling 2023 -
$39 on special this week; $45 RRP
// Certified Organic & Biodynamic
"Our 2023 Riesling has a perfumed nose showing pretty notes of frangipani, orange blossom and jasmine. There are hints of golden delicious apple, lemon rind and ripe pomelo grapefruit. The palate is silky with lean acid with yellow passionfruit, lemon custard, and talc. The acid is mouth watering, and the texture is silky and rounded, this complexity coming from the wine’s 100% maturation in Austrian oak foudres." - Winemaker Notes
Primavera Chardonnay 2024 -
$46 on special this week; $52 RRP
// Certified Organic & Biodynamic
"Named after springtime, this wine is a bright and fresh expression of Chardonnay. This wine is a blend of Chardonnay from our Estate vineyards in Granton, Derwent Valley and Cradoc, Huon Valley. These two terroirs build a layered falvour profile, the richness coming from the Granton fruit meanhwile the brightness coming from the Cradoc fruit. All of the Chardonnay is matured in 100% oak with a portion of the juice filling 228L barriques and the other portion in seasoned 500L Austrian oak foudres." - Winemaker Notes
Primavera Pinot Noir 2024 -
$46 on special this week; $52 RRP
"Our Primavera Pinot Noir is mostly wild fermented, de-stemmed and taken off skins early to retain it's bright flavour. The grapes are 100% hand picked, hand sorted and fermented with own yeasts and some whole bunches. Basket pressed after about 3 weeks. The result is a beautiful, soft red wine with natural medium body and wonderful drinkability." - Winemaker Notes
Estate Chardonnay 2023 -
$70 on special this week; $79 RRP
// Certified Organic & Biodynamic
"This is a creamy and nougat-laced expression of Chardonnay. Aniseed, nectarine, butter and sage, with a little pink grapefruit. It’s rich and slippery, quite some buttered peach, but the acidity is good, and adds a bit of life to the wine, and then more of the cling peach and cream, with some lemon rind to close." - 93 Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
Estate Pinot Noir 2023 -
$70 on special this week; $79 RRP
// Certified Organic & Biodynamic
"Cherry, strawberry, quite some perfume of aniseed and dried flowers, and a modest amount of biscuitty oak. It’s medium-bodied, gently ferrous with a slight orange peel edge, fine-grained tannin, cranberry acidity, dusty and peppery red fruits of some juiciness, and a bright finish of excellent length. Very good." - 94 Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
Grande Vintage Sparkling 2011 -
$85 on special this week; $95 RRP
"A 50/50% blend of estate-grown chardonnay and pinot noir, the vineyard certified organic in conversion to biodynamic. It spent 10 years on yeast lees, and has a fine mousse and a golden yellow hue attesting to the age. It hits the nail on the head with the perfect precision of the bouquet and palate." - 97 points & Top 100 Wines of the Year, James Halliday
Sasso Pinot Noir 2022 -
$129 on special this week; $145 RRP
// Certified Organic & Biodynamic
"Lubiana's flagship pinot noir delivers the goods. Great aromatic depth revealing plush wild strawberry, dark cherry and red plum fruits dredged in exotic spice with hints of roasting game, mountain herbs, sous bois, Chinese barbecue and earth. Tight, grainy tannins provide the frame and a seam of minerally acidity the propulsion as the wine flows across the palate, finishing very long and true. A complex wine that delivers beautiful drinking now but will repay careful cellaring handsomely. Serious stuff." - 96 Points, Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
Cuvée Prestige 2011 -
$130 on special this week; $149 RRP
// 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir
2026 Sparkling Wine of the Year - 2026 Halliday Wine Companion Awards
"Disgorged October '23 with a whopping 11 years on lees. So harmonious and complete with tones of citrus, sea spray, crushed shells, dried shiitake, pipe tobacco, Kalamata olive, fresh pastries and toast. Bone-dry and beautifully focused, it travels on rails of crystalline Tasmanian acidity with a 'sucking on a river pebble' savoury aspect and a finish that shows remarkable sustain and harmony. Just superb." - 98 Points, Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
