It is not the result of sheer chance that a prestigious house such as Leeuwin Estate earns its enviable reputation - it takes tireless attention to detail, adaptability to constantly changing factors, and a general vigneron know-how (which comes from being one of the Margaret River's original founding estates) that sets this family-owned name apart. Thus, it is one of the more thrilling weeks of the year when their dazzling Art Series collection is granted its release, including the Chardonnay that is often seen as a benchmark for what the grape can achieve in an ideal Australian environment.
We're excited to say you will all have the chance to get a good look at each one come this Saturday (15th March) - from between 12 to 2pm (though we expect these ones may pour out rather quickly), come by and treat your palate on classic Margaret River varietals like their discrete and detailed Sauvignon Blanc, a back-vintage 2019 Riesling release straight from Leeuwin's cellars, one of the finest valued bottles of Shiraz around for the quality on display, the abundant Bordeaux-esque Cabernet Sauvignon, and yes, the inimitable Art Series Chardonnay, as densely lined with fruit presence and savoury minerality as ever.
We hope you can join us - otherwise, all wines will be on special for the next week, should collecting this series each year already be a hobby!

Art Series Sauvignon Blanc 2024 -
$30 on special this week; $34 RRP
"Intense aromas of jasmine, kaffir, daisy flowers and fennel greet the nose, alongside a tapestry of lemon, lime, black pastille and guava across the fruit spectrum. Elements of pistachio, blanched almonds and just a touch of cardamom provide added complexity. Grapefruit, lemon, native lime and granita feature among a myriad of flavours and textures on the palate. The shape and frame is precise, with purity and clarity throughout. The acidity creates lively energy, then combines with an ocean spray nuance. Savoury layers run parallel to the fruits and acidity, leading to an enviably long and talc finish." - Winemaker Notes
"The nose is discrete and minerally, with aromas of lemon peel, pink grapefruit and flint. The palate is medium-bodied with focused acidity, a generous mouthfeel and notes of guavas, candied limes and orange blossoms. High tension with underlying power." - 93 Points, James Suckling
Art Series Riesling 2019 (Museum Cellar Release) -
$37 on special this week; $42 RRP
"Bright, crunchy and full of energy. Finger limes, grapefruit and lemon sherbet combine with coriander seed, Thai basil and Kaffir leaf. Heightened jasmine and citrus blossom notes provide added fragrance and lift. Vitality and clarity on the palate, cut limes and lemons are threaded throughout. It is finely textured, giving delicate dimension combining with a mineral acid structure, leading to a talc finish." - Winemaker Notes
"A wealth of apples, pears and citrus fruit here with a fresh-herb edge that stamps the region in play. The palate has very tightly aligned, dry lemon and lime flavors, all so neatly locked in. No wonder this wine has a cult following!" - 92 Points, Nick Stock, JamesSuckling.com
$44 on special this week; $49 RRP
"Shiraz dominant, there is a dollop of both Viognier and Malbec (3% of each), in this stunning Margaret River Shiraz. 20% whole bunch and a total of eighteen months maturation in various formats of French oak. Deep magenta hue. Quite the savoury style, we have notes of licorice, animal skins, dry herbs, blackcurrants, cloves and a hint of graphite. Beautifully structured, this is seamless and seductive. There is a line of fine acidity, all leading to quite a complex style. Such exemplary balance here with excellent length. Enjoy over the next ten to fifteen years. A superb Margaret River Shiraz. The best in the region?" - 96 Points, Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot
"In many ways a breakthrough wine for Leeuwin and a clear marker of where they have been heading with this variety. As with the Siblings a small amount of malbec has been added along with the spicy and textural impact from a little viognier. It’s so delightfully poised and presented with its pretty and perfumed aromas opening with a plummy mulberry blue fruit character emerging immediately. It’s soft and supple with fine fruit characters supported with fine chalky tannins. Has a silky texture with an ever so subtle grainy feel adding to its appeal. Looking very smart." - 96 Points, Ray Jordan, WA Wine Review 2025
Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 -
$92 on special this week; $105 RRP
"Immediately captivating: the nose is vibrant and energetic, while simultaneously the epitome of elegance and poise with restrained fruit power. This is a silk evening gown of a wine: form-fitting, precisely tailored, mellifluous and effortlessly chic. Abundant in aromatics and lifted perfume, fine red fruits include wild strawberry tip, bramble and just-ripe blackcurrant, alongside hints of piquancy: Szechwan pepper, clove and a fine dusting of deep, lightly toasted cocoa powder. There’s a charismatic iodine weave, the savoury and slightly saline minerality proving a foil to both the fruit flesh and the floral hues. Displaying extremely fine-grained tannins, it's firm, focused and delicate, with a graphite line, fresh acidity and plenty that will reveal itself in good time." - 96 Points, Cassandra Charlick, Decanter
"One of the distinctive features of this wine, and in a way a DNA link to all Art Series cabernet, is its savouriness. It’s the rolled tobacco, nori, iodine and whiff of new leather plus the cedary oak, but these are not separate, they form a whole impression. There’s also the core of excellent fruit, the structure, the supple tannins and the bright acidity. And the joy of drinking it." - 96 Points, Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion
$155 on special this week; $175 RRP
"Concentrated and intense, the nose shows a fruit core of nashi pear, finger limes and Lisbon lemon, with delicate complex layers of nougat, brioche, chamomile, galangal, sesame praline, macadamia and heightened notes of wattle blossom, jasmine and lime flowers. The palate is detailed and ethereal. Pear greets nectarine, white peach and lemon curd. Woven and harmonious, it unfolds to a graphite and mineral thread, with a touch of sherbet, aniseed and cardamom. Gentle textures open through the mid-palate with vibrant natural acidity, amidst a black tea, talc and chalk-like finish featuring characteristic length." - Winemaker Notes
"Pear, grapefruit, Teddy Bear biscuits, cedar, vanilla, clove and ginger oak laying it on pretty thick, though the fruit power is there to take it. It’s juicy, honey drizzled pear, citrus, a firm chalk dust grip, with a lively grapefruit cut of acidity, some lime and lime rind richness here too, with a bold and savoury finish of excellent length. It’s wine of power and presence, and some warmth, not immediately approachable, but very good." - 95+ Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
