With the long weekend approaching, we're highlighting an eclectic mix of favourites from all around the country, each one down on special for the next week!
A brilliant new sparkling arrival from Lloyd Brothers in the Adelaide Hills kicks things off, bursting with refreshing aromatics and crisp green fruits that'll make for the perfect barbeque and pool companion. Elsewhere, Whistler's vibrant Rosé blending Mataro and Grenache, and full-bodied Mornington Pensinula Chardonnay from Gaffy & Neal shine equally as two warm weather Aussie classics to pair with those grilled meats and fresh salads! In the red realm, we've got the juicy Shiraz (alongside just a dash of Cabernet) expression from Hayes Family in Barossa, and Domaine Simha's elegant Pinot Noir, pushing that inimitable rich Tasmanian fruit with a welcome herbacious backbone.
To top things off, we have a classic London Dry style gin from the folks at Diviners (based here in Queensland over in the Granite Belt!) at one remarkable price, sitting with Starward's fan-favourite Two Fold Whiskey ??
We will be open on the public holiday itself on Friday too, opening at our regular 9am start and just closing an hour earlier than usual at 8pm!

Lloyd Brothers Blanc de Blancs 2023 (Adelaide Hills) - $23 on special ; $26 RRP
"A great vintage for sparkling wines in the Adelaide Hills. A long, slow cool vintage lead to great flavour development at low baumes whilst retaining great acidity. Fruit from both David and Matthew’s vineyards was selectively picked on the same night and then crushed and gently airbag pressed with just the freerun juice being used for this Sparkling. Once the juice was settled a long, cool ferment took place using a specific sparkling yeast which helped to maintain all the lovely notes and aromas. Produced using the Charmat method, secondary fermentation occurred in a high-pressure sparkling tank over 4 weeks capturing the bubbles. Vegan friendly. Lifted aromas of white blossom and citrus, the palate is full of lovely white peach, green pear, granny smith apple with a burst of fresh lemon. A fresh, crisp finish makes this a delightful sparkling wine for all occasions. Best enjoyed well chilled." - Winemaker Notes

Whistler Dry as a Bone Rosé 2023 (Barossa) - $25 on special ; $28 RRP
// 52% Mataro & 48% Grenache
"Of the blend, 64% was grown here on our own vineyards using organic and biodynamic practices while the remaining 36% of Mataro comes from older vine material in Greenock. Each variety was picked on the same day and co-fermented. Our soils are quite shallow and have outcrops of ironstone in the vineyard, which gives the wine a nice savoury edge. The juice was pressed away from the skins within 3hrs of harvest to ensure that the colour of the rose was vibrant and pale. Fermented in a stainless steel tank to retain freshness & lees stirred to produce a creamy character in the wine, which also helps to soften the acid and make the mouthfeel more rounded. Very pale pastel pink, almost copper in colour, with aromas of red apple, fresh raspberries, cherries and strawberry yogurt. The palate is dry, but has great fruit weight and great length. There is some complexity on the palate from the lees stirring. The perfect drink for a sunny day!" - Winemaker Notes

Gaffy & Neal 'Merricks North' Chardonnay 2022 (Mornington Peninsula) - $65 on special ; $74 RRP
"Green-gold in hue; white peach and nectarine, ruby grapefruit augmented by cashew nuts and tangelo peel zest with a touch of flint. The palate is a mirror wrapped in a creamy textural blanket with a long finish assisited by a fine skeleton of racy acidity. It is tightly coiled with significant latent power that will emerge in time. A deep and powerful wine that will age for decades." - Winemaker Notes
"Light-medium yellow colour with complex bouquet of cashewnut, white peach/nectarine, creamy dairy and baker's yeast overtones - even a hint of milk powder - nougat lurking beneath. The palate is intense and zesty with lemon-curd and lime-juice flavours along with stone fruits and toasted nuts, bright acidity and a lovely tension across the tongue. Refined and rich, a truly outstanding chardonnay." - 98 Points, Huon Hooke, The Real Review

Hayes Wines Barossa Valley Shiraz 2021 - $37 on special ; $42 RRP
// 92% Shiraz and 8% Cabernet
"The 2021 Barossa Valley vintage will be remembered as an almost faultless season after the challenging years that preceded it. Good spring rains meant that for the first time in many years we entered the growing season with good soil moisture levels. A warm dry growing season followed, with balanced and healthy canopies producing an average crop of extremely high quality fruit. Certainly the best in a decade, maybe longer. The good news is that flavours and colours (in reds) and overall quality is exceptional. A truly great Barossa vintage in the making. Shiraz sourced from vineyards across the Barossa Valley, from Williamstown in the South, Stone Well in the West and Ebenezer and Koonunga in the North. Handpicked, hand sorted, de-stemmed, and open fermented before spending 14 days on skins. Matured for 16 months in a blend of new and second use French oak before being bottled in August 2021. Deep bright red tinged with purple. Fruit driven, blackberry plummy fruit supported by powerful Northern Barossa Tannins and natural acidity. This wine is drinking beautifully now but will improve for many years. Classic Barossa from a wonderful vintage year." - Winemaker Notes

Diviners Distillery London Dry House Gin (Granite Belt, Queensland) - $64 on special ; $69 RRP
"This hand-crafted gin is a modern classic: juniper-forward with a point of difference - incredibly refreshing with tonic, smooth and silky in the coupe, and completely transformed by citrus! All this alchemy is owed to the ephemeral not-so-you’d-notice inclusion of licorice and lavender in our signature low-pressure low-temperature distillation process. A London Dry just might be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of gin (even more so than Diviners Distillery), but what exactly constitutes a London Dry? Well, think of it as less of a place, and more of a process - a journey if you will! Our cold distillation techniques allow us to unlock hidden depths of flavor every step of the way, which is especially important in the high spirit runs that form that beautiful structure of this classic method. We think you’ll love where we went with it!" - Distiller Notes

Starward Two Fold Double Grain Whiskey (Melbourne) - $67 on special ; $70 RRP
// Gold medal winner at San Francisco World Spirits Awards 2020 & Best Australian Blended Whisky at World Whiskies Awards 2020 + 2019
"Two-Fold is a wheat and single malt whisky folded together and matured in Australian red wine barrels. Balanced with notes of juicy red fruit, oak spice and sweet vanilla, you'll find Two-Fold is outrageously delicious neat, on ice or shaken in any classic cocktail. On the nose, bright tropical fruits, mixed red berries, vanilla and cereal. On the palate, a great balance of red fruit and vanilla with a nice cereal and toasty backbone. Delicate and long finish. A delicious, well-rounded palate that makes Two-Fold perfect for drinking neat or in your favorite cocktails." - Distiller Notes
