The Collection 242 is Louis Roederer's brand new multi-vintage cuvée that will eventually replace the familiar Brut Premier! Still a delicious blend of 42% Chardonnay, 36% Pinot Noir, and 22% Pinot Meunier, lovers of the original N.V. have nothing to fear as the 242 maintains that signature balance, crunchy fruit flavours, and refreshing finish, only this time bringing slightly richer, toastier notes to the fold. All its initial tasters have been echoing a similar sentiment - it's the closest a non-vintage bottle has ever tasted to a vintage champagne!

"Softly shimmering straw gold, green tints, with a delicate filigree dancing at will around the glass. The nose is gently authoritative; spring flowers garlanding stone fruit, a hint of hawthorn maybe, then lemongrass. The palate has encyclopaedic depth, the intricacies of the Perpetual Reserve weaving their early magic; almond, sloe, gingerbread and apples; the finish has a pleasing twist of bitterness, courtesy of the small percentage of oak-aged reserve wine. Maybe the dosage (8g/L) can come down even further, such is the engaging and subtle complexity harnessed elsewhere?" - 92 Points, Simon Field MW, Decanter
“This is the new non-vintage replacing the well-known and loved Brut Premier. It is a whole new philosophy and shows the wonderful art of blending - which is really what champagne is all about. This is a multi-vintage wine and reflects the brilliance of the chef de cave -Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon. It has a base blend of 55% from the 2017 vintage and the other vintages in this creation are 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2011 and 2009.
This wine represents the 242nd harvest at the winery since 1776. It is a blend of 36% Pinot Noir, 22% Pinot Meunier and 42% Chardonnay. It is a rich intense wine with a nose of honeysuckle, baby daffodils and pearl narcissus. The palate is infused with butterscotch, ripe yellow peaches, honeyed nuts, glazed cherries, plum, blood orange, ruby grapefruit and delightful chalk streaks. It is very fleshy with lots of facets and some use of oak shows in the blend, sprinkled with soft spice flicked over the fruits. A beautiful wine which brings its own shining and distinctive personality to this famous House.“ – Bernadette O’Shea, Champagne Consultant
