"The fruit for this wine comes from a long-standing relationship with a very special vineyard in Whitlands, north east Victoria. It’s situated just north of the Mansfield-Whitfield Road, and was planted in 1995 in tertiary volcanic soils over rhyolite at 600 metres above sea level. The palate is a flavoursome ride of apple, fennel, flint and freshly baked pastry, brimming with tension and drive. There's so much going on yet it's seamless and composed in both its delivery and flavour profile. A touch highly strung in its youth, which sets it up for a few years of aging. Some precision winemaking on show with quality fruit that simply comes alive in the glass. White flowers, wild flowers, lemon zest, grapefruit, sherbet, nectarine, peach and almond skin aromas are bright. The energy is palpable, the acidity electric and the flavours linear, integrated and elegant, delivered in a citrus and white peach clarity with almond, hazelnut, flint and spice.
