// 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay (Organic & Biodynamic)

4.5g/L dosage (Extra Brut style)

Disgorged March 2020

Label art by Claude Viallat

The 2012 blend is made exclusively from the purest first pressing of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from eight exceptional terroirs, with 20% vinified in small, old oak barrels. Eight years of aging in the cellar, including a minimum of 12 months of rest after disgorgement, allow it to develop a sensation of richness and concentration, complemented by a persistent saline freshness.

Initial freshness of stone fruits, ranging from cherry to white peach, quickly followed by more concentrated aromas of dried fig, honeyed notes, and fresh ginger, enveloped by the powerful white flower of mock orange. With aeration, cocoa and ashy notes emerge, highlighting the wine's luscious character. The palate is precise and energetic, the wine then unfolds on the palate, remaining remarkably true to the nose. A sensation of richness and concentration is complemented by a persistent saline freshness." -Bruno Baillard, Winemaker

"Tight-knit and dense on the nose. Really very exciting and tense but with great richness underneath which presumably comes from the ageing rather than the dosage. A hint of almond paste/marzipan. Great to enjoy a champagne that's very refreshing but not austere. The whole tenor seems to be nutty rather than fruity or mineral. Long, reverberant finish." - 17.5/20, Jancis Robinson

"Mature aromas of nuts, honey, brioche, pine nuts and lovely creamy notes with ricotta undertones and nuances of lemons and apples. Very refined, soft and luxurious, generous yet showing freshness. Wonderfully persistent." - 96 Points, Michelle Cherutti-Kowal MW, Stefan Neumann MS, Matt Walls, Decanter 2021 Wines of the Year
