"
Our 2023 Estate Pinot Noir consists of eleven separate lots representing distinct aspects, clones and soils. Each of these parcels were handled with attention to vineyard details with the aim of maximising site expression. Indigenous yeasts connect all ferments but varying amounts of whole bunch, post ferment skin contact and individual oak handling were utilised respective to the lot characters themselves. Each of these parcels combine to form our most complex Pinot Noir, with fragrant spices and a red fruit lift that seamlessly merges with darker fruits and more savoury complexities. A myriad of vineyard based tannin entwines with gentle oak handling to accentuate a length of mineral clarity. After 16 months maturation in 20% new oak, our Estate blend was bottled without filtration." - Winemaker Notes
"Curly Flat Pinot Noir can be a bit surly in its youth and this release is of that ilk. It’s not a flashy pinot noir, let’s say. It tastes of cherries red and black with stringy herb and stewed strawberry notes. It’s firm through the finish and for now, takes a lot of coaxing to relax and extend. There’s a meatiness to this release, not overt but there. It’s a solid release for now but in time could well push higher." - 93+ Points, Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
