Description / Reviews
"Rousseau’s Clos de la Roche out of barrel was more open and approachable than it often is, with a ripe plummy fruit adorned with floral notes and a bit of spice. The texture is supple and fresh, without heaviness but substantial enough to age. The grapes are from the two large domaine parcels, one in the original lieu-dit Clos de la Roche, and one in Fremières. The vines were particularly generous in 2023 – Cyrielle Rousseau commented: ‘When you see a lot there’s more than you expect’; severe crop-thinning was used to produce this marvellously complex result." - 95 Points, Charles Curtis MW, Decanter
"The 2023 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has a vivacious bouquet with Morello cherries, raspberry and wilted rose petal that blossoms in the glass. Wonderful delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with pure black cherries, blueberry and violet fruit. Gentle grip, tightly wound, at first but opening with aeration, silky smooth toward the prolonged finish. Beautiful." - 94-96 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous
"As is also usually the case, this is ever-so-slightly riper than the Mazy with its nose of poached plum, cassis, earth and a whiff of violet. There is excellent punch, if only average density, to the muscular and solidly powerful flavors that display a more subtle bead of minerality on the strikingly long and balanced finale that is less austere than is typical for this wine. This should also be approachable after only 7 to 8 years." - 92-94 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound
