Description / Reviews
"In 2001, Charles Ballot took the helm of his family’s already respected domaine, and began to make his mark by moving to more natural farming methods, reducing yields, buying a triage table, and updating the press. Today, the estate is comprised of 10 hectares of vineyards, seven of which are in Meursault proper. The holdings are reputable and the relative vine age is old: Perrières (40+ years), Genevrières (70+ years), Narvaux (45-60year), etc. Charles’s wines tend toward the so-called “Roulot-school” of Meursault, more tensile and racy, as opposed to the fatter, honeyed and nutty style that dominated the landscape 20-30 years ago." - Polaner Selections, Importer
"Ripe and beautifully layered aromas of rosemary oil, petrol, poached pear and a discreet floral wisp are complemented by highly seductive and sappy medium-bodied and overtly powerful flavors that display superb depth and persistence on the very firm finale. This is also terrific and it's rare that a Morgeot, irrespective of the lieu-dit, can best a quality Perrières or Genevrières but this one does. - 92-94 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound
"The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot Tête de Clos 1er Cru has another seductive bouquet with touches of yellow plum and white flowers, plus a patina of grilled almond. The palate is fresh and quite saline on the entry with impressive weight." - Neal Martin, Vinous
