Description / Reviews

// 60% Syrah, 30% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre

"At the foot of the slopes of Pic Saint Loup and the Hortus plateau, where the incline eases, soft limestone outcrops. The soils formed on this substrate dry relatively quickly in summer.
The forest surrounding these plots is clearly dominated by Aleppo pine, interspersed with groves of holm oak, viburnum tinus, rosemary, juniper, and sheep's grass. During vinification, we will use gentle extraction techniques and cultivate the fruit, aiming for an aging potential of 5 years, a much shorter period than for the Domaine de l'Hortus Grande Cuvée red." - Domaine de l'Hortus, Winemaker

"This wine shows remarkable breed for this appellation. Intense red fruit flavors and spice in the nose are backed up by ripe, smooth tannins in a very juicy wine. With a little imagination, it is easy to pick up aromas of the wild herbs and pine trees which encircle this secluded vineyard at the foot of the Hortus mountain. It would easily show well next to some of the more famous, and far more expensive wines, from the Rhône valley. Expect it to drink beautifully over the next five years." - Beaune Imports, Distributor
