Description / Reviews

"Among the Premier Cru vineyards of Meursault, some are considered Grand Cru. Charmes, Genevrières, and of course Perrières, the most sought-after vineyard, are often cited, regularly considered a natural candidate for possible reclassification as a Grand Cru. The name Perrière evokes the stone quarries. This wine possesses a remarkable minerality, superior to all the other Premier Crus of Meursault, and in this respect, it is close to the great wines of Puligny. Our 0.45-hectare Meursault Perrières plot is located in the upper part of the cru and produces a dense and vertical wine. The nose is primarily mineral and stony, but offers considerable complexity, often with floral notes (white flowers, hawthorn). The palate is concentrated and structured. The tension and persistence, which stem precisely from this mineral character, are impressive." - Domaine de Montille, Winemaker

"Like Charmes and Genevrieres, Perrieres is considered a "Grand Premier Cru". The term Perrieres is a reference to the rocky terrain. De Montille's parcels is located in the upper part of the Cru. Fermented in 50% demi-muids, 50% barrels (25% new oak max). Aged one year in demi-muids and barrels, then aged another 5 months in stainless steel. A dense and vertical wine with floral aromas, remarkable minerality, generous complexity and a real tension and persistence. Worth waiting 5-7 years for this wine to begin strutting its stuff." -Polaner, Importer

"More elegant aromas of mineral reduction, Granny Smith apple, acacia blossom and jasmine tea are also trimmed in just enough wood to notice. The racy and beautifully detailed middle weight flavors are also precise while flashing focused power on the moderately austere, compact and balanced finale. This is lovely and a wine that should repay up to a decade of keeping. (Drink starting 2031)" - 91-93 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound

"The 2023 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has a flinty bouquet with subtle smoky scents, gently unfolding with aeration. The palate is well balanced with plenty of extract on the entry, fine acidity, impressive depth and a harmonious finish with a touch of bitter lemon and grapefruit. Excellent. (Drink between 2025-2045)." - 91-93 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous
