Description
Philippe is making one of the finest examples of essentially old vine Grenache wines in the world today, fermented in open concrete cuve beton and aged in tank it is a wine of considerable style and grace and despite all the plaudits, it remains priced very fairly indeed. This 2023 is another superb release from Philippe, this is one of the most consistently great wines I import, and it will obviously repay careful cellaring handsomely.
"Making the most of the vintage, the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape (80% Grenache, 7% Mourvèdre, 5% each Syrah and Bourboulenc, and the rest Cinsault) is deeper ruby-hued (it's semi-opaque) and has a brilliant perfume of spicy red and black fruits, ground pepper, Provençal garrigue, and sappy flowers. It's complex, medium to full-bodied, has a beautifully seamless, layered texture, and outstanding length. I love it. It's not going to be the longest lived of Bravay's releases, but this sexy little gem will offer pleasure right out of the gate." 93-95/100 Jeb Dunnuck.com
