"Raphaël Monnier’s wines are becoming some of the most sought after of the region. His interest in winemaking began some 20 years ago, first by working on a small negociant project with good friend Jean-Baptiste Menigoz of Domaine Bottes Rouges. It was later in 2009 that he started Domaine Ratapoil while still a history teacher, a career he has recently given up to put all his efforts into winemaking. Featuring a plethora of small parcels in Jura, with a special old-vine plot of indigenous Jurrasien varieties up in the neighbouring Doubs départment. In 2017 however, as with many, he lost over half his yield to frost, to supplement these poor weather events, Raphaël & protégé Marie Bourdon created the ‘Avis de Tempête’ (Storm Warning) negocé side label - venturing far & wide for relevant & unique parcels of fruit in otherwise challenging years." - Grafted, Importer
"From 55 year old vines, pinot noir hangs out in amphora for twelve months. Very light weight, fine boned, shaped with fine, chalky tannins, a bright, cherry pip core and around that rose hip tea, dried flowers, rose petal and the like, some black tea qualities, truffle and alpine amaro notes. It’s very fresh, tight, and tense, long in flavour, sinewy and should open up slowly and well. An understated but strict feel. Very interesting/good." - 93 Points, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front
