Description / Reviews

"Fifteen years after its DOC status, starting with the 2011 vintage, we decided to give it a name, demonstrating just how special it is to us. This unique wine is produced almost exclusively in the municipality of Verduno, from the rare native Pelaverga Piccolo grape. Its distinctiveness is evident from its color; but what is most captivating is its unmistakable spicy aroma, pepper in particular, hence the name Speziale. Let yourself be seduced! Tip: Drink with friends…" - Fratelli Alessandria, Winemaker

"If I wore t-shirts that had writing on them, and not just the one t-shirt style I own (AS Colour Paper in black), I could see myself owning a dorky wine one that had ‘I ♡ Pelaverga’ on it. Though pelaverga kind of sounds like a synonym for a rash or hacking cough disease or something too.

Like tart cherry in crystal form. This is wildly delicious. From the shimmering garnet colour through to the popping, red fruit and spice perfume to the crispness of texture and the vermouth/botanical laced finish. Red cherry. Cranberry. Cold rose hip tea. Fantastic." - 93 Points, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front

"A very pretty, brilliant pale ruby colour. There’s a fabulous fragrance of wild strawberry and raspberry fruit with floral notes, and the signature varietal scent of peppery spice. It is light of body but not short on flavour or vibrancy, red berry juiciness and blood orange tang complemented by spicy piquancy, the tannins ultra-fine, the finish clean and crisp. An extra four months in bottle since my first tasting of this wine has given it a further level of intensity and fruit definition. A delicious wine that invigorates the palate" - 93 Points, Stephen Blandford, The Real Review
