"Giovanni Sordo boasts vineyards in eight of Barolo’s villages including many of the denomination’s most prestigious MGAs. In Rocche di Castiglione, 50-year-old vines sit on a mix of limestone-rich marl and compact sandstone. Pronounced in mint and spicy green herbs with a touch of olive, aromas are curiously distinct and boisterous. The palate is equally animated, bringing in an underpinning of rhubarb and raspberry. The tannins are long and textural. Persuasive in expression, nevertheless style takes the lead over place." - 92 points, Michaela Morris
