Description / Reviews
"The delimited area of Chablis 1er Crus wines is located on limestone soils from the Upper Jurassic Kimmeridgian era, very rich in marine fossils and in particular Exogyra virgula, a small oyster typical of Chablis soils. Montmains occupies one of the slopes of the valleys that join the valley, on the left bank of the Serein, facing south-east.
The youthful white flower aromas of this Montmains give way to a structured wine that is rich and full-bodied, with low acidity on the palate and a long finish of ripe fruit." - Jean Collet, Winemaker
"The 2023 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru has a controlled and focused bouquet with crushed stone and subtle apple blossom scents. The palate is well balanced and fleshy with a keen line of acidity and light honeyed tones. This is not as overt as some of its peers. Slightly spiced on the finish, this is a fine Montmains to drink over the next decade. Tasted blind at the BIVB offices in Chablis." - 90 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous
