Description / Reviews

"A classic wine tied to tradition which undergoes a medium period of fermentation and maceration (approximately 15 days). It ages in large Slavonian oak barrels for over a year. During its whole production process, maximum attention is paid to all the details which convey elegance and smoothness to a young Nebbiolo. Delicate and pleasant with predominant notes of raspberry and violet; with age it develops very refined and elegant secondary scents. An elegant and complete wine with a very charming appeal. We recommend decanting and enjoying it at a temperature of 18-20°C." - Winemaker Notes

"Drawn from three sources, the Langhe Nebbiolo has never tasted better. The first component is from parcels in Serralunga that don't make the cut for the cru wines — in short, declassified Barolo fruit. Then there’s Massolino's site on the edge of Monforte, Cascina I Maschi, a cool, chalky spot that gives the wine more lifted perfume and freshness. Finally, there’s a parcel in Alba, on lighter, sandy-clay soils, bringing fruit generosity and flesh. The blend is roughly one-third from each source. Vinification is in concrete with very gentle extraction, and aging is in large Slavonian oak casks (as with all Massolino Nebbiolo) for 12 months, as opposed to 24-plus months for the Barolo wines." - Bibendum, Importer

"Strawberry, red cherry, slight white pepper, almond essence, pretty dried flower perfume. Medium-bodied, fresh, all red fruits, a light touch, a light chew and chalkiness to tannin, with a fresh finish of good length. It’s not the most concentrated, but it’s very charming." - 92 Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front (2023 Vintage)
