Description / Reviews
"100% Grüner Veltliner from my youngest wines. Due to its accessible and easy character, it’s the perfect wine for people who are trying natural wine for the first time! The grapes are hand-harvested and whole-bunch-pressed. The wine spontaneously ferments in stainless steel tanks, where it then spends about 11 months. Bottled lightly filtered, unfined, with a small amount of sulfur added. Crisp, fun, super thirst-quenching Gruner that truly can be enjoyed by both natural wine beginners and lovers." - Winemaker Notes
"In the pulsating heart of this winemaking haven, Warnung's wines emerge like a harmonious jazz riff; an improvisation of terroir, innovation and tradition that captivate the senses of the beholder. Nestled just 45 minutes West of Vienna, the stage upon which this vinous drama unfolds, is a tapestry of undulating landscapes and sun-soaked slopes, where Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and Zweigelt reign supreme. It is a canvas that Matthias Warnung paints with the strokes of passion and reverence, capturing the essence of the region in each bottle. The soils in Kamptal are diverse, but there is a prevalence of loess and primary rock soils. These soil types contribute to the unique mineral character of the wines produced in the region. Influenced by the Danube River and the surrounding hills, the region has a continental climate with warm summers and cold winters. Subject to the binary effects of the hot, Pannonian plain heat from the east and the cooler Waldviertel region towards the north-west. The unique combination of warm days and cool nights contributes to the fine aromatics and naturally-retained vibrant acidity in the finished wines." -
