"Sourced from blocks planted by Trevor Mast in the 1990s. Maturation in French barriques (40% new) for 15 months. It is a constant that Talus is immediately understated, elegant and yet it builds and builds in the glass. Lifted florals, acacia, sage, black pepper mix with dark berries and woodsy scented oak. "This lays on quite a lot of flavour, all of it typical of this estate and indeed of the region. Violets, black pepper, black cherry and raspberry flavours come coated in woodsmoke and cedarwood. Yes there is some warmth but there’s also a lot of pepper and floral characters, and the finish – slated with tannin – is beautifully well sustained.
