Brett is a graduate of Australia’s Roseworthy College and has been judging in international wine competitions for more than 35 years. Brett’s wine passion and knowledge developed buying wines internationally for his family’s fine wine stores in Australia.
Brett is currently working with many of the great wine estates globally, including Domaine Guigal in the Rhone Valley as well as many of his favourite wineries from France, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and Italy. He has lived and worked in Australia, Argentina, Russia, France and UK including 12 years with LVMH in their sparkling wine and Champagne operations. He spends many months a year globetrotting to advise and service his clients, and regularly contributes to radio, TV and international journals.
He is a well respected wine judge who is a Chairman at both world leading International Wine Challenge and International Wine and Spirit Competition; he is a regular senior judge at the Decanter World Wine Awards; and a senior judge at Syrah du Monde and Southern Russian Wine Competition. Before Brett left Australia he had been a senior judge for more than 10 years at various Australian Agricultural Shows including the prestigious Royal Melbourne Wine Show and Chaired the Victorian Wine Awards tasting panel. In 2013 he was an invited International Guest Judge at the Sydney International Wine Competition in Australia.
During Brett’s extensive time in the wine industry he has actively worked
alongside his peers as Chairman of the Yarra Valley Wine Growers Association, founding board member of the Victorian Wine Industry Association and Board member and founding committee member of the Victorian Food and Wine festival, today one of the biggest of its kind. Brett has been President of the Wine and Food Society of Victoria and secretary and committee member of the Viticultural Society of Victoria. Brett is also member of Member Order de Coteaux de Champagne and Commanderie de Bordeaux.
