A big week of Aussie wine for us this week, as several of the iconic labels from By Farr made their way through our doors just earlier this morning, all set for one amazing Saturday tasting lineup, plus fan-favourite Barossa beauties from Sons of Eden pouring come Friday evening!
Join us come Friday (10th) between 4:30 and 7pm, as new vintages from Sons of Eden are set to emerge, including the Notus Grenache (having scored 96-points and a Gold Medal from Decanter), the Romulus & Remus Shirazduo, plus the tremendous value shown in their Marschall Shiraz, Pumpa Cabernet and Kennedy GSM!
The By Farr Chardonnay and Viognier, as well as the two Pinot Noir labels in the 'Farrside' and 'Sangreal' lie within the highest tier of anticipation for a great many wine lovers that we come across, and with the new 2025 releases for the white duo and 2024 vintage for the two reds, Nick Farr and team have once again combined an ethereal sense of cool-climate fruit elegance, with a greater sense of interwoven structure and edge. Join us this Saturday (11th) between 12 and 2pm, and see first-hand the citric sleekness of their Chardonnay, the riper intensity of the Viognier (plenty of fuzzy peach and ginger), the savoury masculine notes of the Farrside Pinot, the softer alluring red fruits and earthiness of the Sangreal, and the Rhône-esque dark fruit twang of their Shiraz. Next to these will be their Irrewarra Chardonnay/Pinot duo that released earlier this year, both brilliant and expressive in their youth and shining as great entry-points to the Farr range. Each label, as always, is of limited availability, with all available on our website now via the links below!

Irrewarra Chardonnay 2025 -
Available for $75
(Limited availability)
"The 2025 Irrewarra Chardonnay is brilliant. Lovely white gold in the glass the palate cool from the fridge yet immediately giving. It has a softness that defers to finer notes of acidity, ripe citrus and barley sugar; delicate honey and creaminess. In a world where making everyone happy is next to impossible, this wine, in my opinion goes as close to universal appeal as it can. Generosity combined with finesse, flavour and restraint. It may seem contradictory, but this is a wine in which you see that conflict play out in the glass. It’s very, very delicious. As always, the big problem will be getting enough to drink and also keep some in the cellar. I found myself glugging rather than sipping, as it is such a pleasure to drink." - Ben Knight, Wine Writer

Chardonnay 2025 -
Available for $109 (RRP $115)
(Limited availability)
"The nose is lovely, welcoming, it offers notes of ripe fruit, the smells in the glass are so evocative, this has all the elements that make you want to drink it. The palate, sleek but generous. Whenever I write a note like that I'm aware that it's weird. What is sleek but generous? I mean that it is balanced. The weight of the wine is in the goldilocks zone, there are no angles that aren't aligned, it feels smooth, chiselled and in proportion. The generosity of it comes from the intensity of the flavour. Sleek can be perceived as diminutive, but this wine is not that. It's powerful, streamlined and draws your attention. As always, to talk just of fruit is too simple. This wine tastes of soil, flint, river pebbles, things you don't immediately think to put in your mouth, but it's the smell of them that triggers the recognition. This Chardonnay is complex, layered and thrilling. Find oysters to eat while you drink it, find a sea breeze and a view. Find a friend to sit next to, or drink it thinking of them." - Ben Knight, Wine Writer

Viognier 2025 -
Available for $109 (RRP $115)
(Limited availability)
"Am I changing, or is it something else? I feel drawn to the Viognier. I know the story is all Chardonnay and Pinot Noir at By Farr, but my word, if this wine isn't consistently pure joy and vinous perfection. Thoroughbred, poised, rippling and ready to excite. So what does that mean exactly? In my head, it means I can tell the wine is made from the Viognier grape, but it's refreshing enough for me to want to drink more without it being too rich or cloying. A note of apricot, not jam, but fresh and ripe off the tree, still warm from the last rays of the sun. I think if you can feel on your skin, a memory of what a wine smells like, it's already done its job. At least for me it has. A stony, crunchy acidity, that tastes like white pebbles being rubbed together in your hands in a dry river bed, feels like. Can you hear it? Can you feel it too? The texture of the wine fits easily into the framework of modern Australian Chardonnay, but those exotic fruit notes set it apart. For those of you who have the luxury of cellaring wine, or more importantly, have greater self control than I do, a couple of years in the cellar will bring back even more memories." - Ben Knight, Wine Writer

Irrewarra Pinot Noir 2024 -
Available for $75
(Limited availability)
"Spice grip and char then softness, then more tart bright sinewy notes. The nose is petals and perfume, then darker, richer barrel notes. It is a really lovely aroma. Actually, calling it lovely diminishes it somewhat, this is unique, complex and entirely appealing for those looking for something more from a glass of Pinot Noir. There is a different oak profile maybe, something smokier, something more angular. It really works with this wine, even if I’m wrong about the new oak regime. Whatever it is, be it new or just more present, adds a layer to this wine. The Irrewarra only improves with each vintage, it seems, and this is no different. I sat with this for a little while and those spice notes just kept delivering, and each sip or sniff offered something new and delicious." - Ben Knight, Wine Writer

Farrside Pinot Noir 2024 -
Available for $109 (RRP $115)
(Limited availability)
"I’ve had so many of these amazing wines, my compass only has true north. The needle oscillates a little, but no more than a meander down an equally beautiful path. As I clumsily type this metaphor, I want it to mean that I’ve never had to search for my bearings, the wine is always in the right place. The new Farrside is no exception, as it delivers notes of earth, petals, dark ripe fruit and black tea. It smells of spices, dried herbs and lifted notes that remind me of the stems that give this wine such power and life. There is a generosity in evolution to this wine, it is not merely tight and firm, it has softened, it has unfurled, and makes you go back to the glass, time and time again." - Ben Knight, Wine Writer

Sangreal Pinot Noir 2024 -
Available for $135 (RRP $139)
(Limited availability)
"The Sangreal vineyard was planted in 1994, making it our oldest vineyard. It lies on a north-facing slope and the soil composition is bluestone and overlaying limestone, with red ironstone colouring the surface. This is unlike our other vineyards, which are mostly black volcanic soil with heavy amounts of limestone on the surface. The vine rows run north-south, receiving full sun exposure throughout the day, resulting in more perfumed, prettier wines. This is always the first vineyard to be harvested. The clones used in Sangreal are 114 and 115, which we believe have mutated over time to become the ‘Sangreal clone’, now within its own micro-climate. Each year the same descriptive notes come to mind for this wine: seductive, perfumed, seamless balance and moreish. It is a site that wavers very little in more difficult vintages and excels in the great ones—this is the backbone of By Farr wines. The alluring characters of this vineyard, combined with red fruits, whole bunch, acidity and oak, have produced a beautifully interwoven expression of site and vintage. That’s what it’s all about." - Winemaker Notes

Shiraz 2024 -
Available for $109 (RRP $115)
(Limited availability)
"This is always so, so good. It's complex which I love, as so often this grape is one dimensional. There is more than a note of ripe fruit, there is graphite, black olives, it feels silky yet there is a note of ocean spray, a faint yet lovely salinity, then follows the spice. There is so much going on in this wine, and I know it's a tired saying, but this is undoubtedly a Pinot drinker's Shiraz, and by that I mean it is endlessly interesting, I'm not saying that it is light. The texture is perfect in that it has intensity without being flabby, and I think this is too often overlooked. Shiraz need not be a fruit bomb as it masks all the good parts this grape has to offer. Call it Rhone-like if you want, I know that will draw criticism, but few Australian Shiraz come close to that level of finesse, texture and savoriness. It's By Farr Shiraz, that's a far better way to describe it." - Ben Knight, Wine Writer

Romulus Shiraz 2023 -

"Vintage 2023 was ideal for the low yielding old vine Shiraz sites of the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. Cooler than average temperatures with later harvest dates contributed to vibrant complex flavours with typical concentration and ripe silky tannins. Vibrant dark red berry fruits dominate the aroma with hints of coffee bean and dried herb contributing to the complexity. Juicy ripe red fruits dominate the palate with background sweet spice notes and seamless velvety tannins enduring the length. Classic Barossa Valley old vine Shiraz delicious now and well into the future." - Winemaker Notes
