Louis Roederer 243 Brut Is Back & On Special!

Published by The Wine Emporium on 3rd Apr 2023

At last returning to our shelves is Louis Roederer's beautiful Brut expression - their Collection 243! Having been unavailable for the last few months, and never far from the minds of champagne lovers, we're delighted to report it has returned and will be on special for this week as our Champagne Monday offer!

Bringing that signature Roederer class and abundance of flavour, this Brut represents the 243rd harvest of the great estate, masterfully blending the rich 2018 base with a wealth of different reserve vintages. In our eyes, it's one of the very best on the market, and still sits at a great price! We hope you grab hold of some and enjoy with family and friends!

Dosage - 8g/l

"Bright, golden hue with shimmering highlights. Fine, lively mousse with lingering threads of bubbles. The bouquet is open and rich yet also wonderfully fresh. It offers an explosion of ripe, delicate fruit with intense notes of yellow fruit (Mirabelle plum) from the pinot noir complemented by sweet citrus fruits (lemon meringue pie) and delicate notes of white flowers (jasmine) from the chardonnay. The nose opens up to reveal autolytic characters and evolves towards smoky, roasted notes and freshly baked pastries. The palate is deep and dense with a big, well-structured backbone. The texture is simply mesmerizing with its fleshy mouthfeel from the pinot noir that coats the palate before giving way to an incredible saline freshness with a pleasant hint of bitterness. This wine combines the strength, intensity and power of the delectably ripe pinot noirs which are balanced to perfection by the chalky freshness and density from the chardonnay which forms the majority of the blend." - Producer Notes

"Based on 2018, described by Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon as 'a truly magical year', with oak aged wines from 2009, 2011 and all vintages from 2013 to 2017 inclusive that make up this impeccable house's perpetual reserve begun in 2012. Wonderfully complex aroma rises from the glass as soon as this is poured. So complex on the nose and uncompromisingly dry but well balanced on the palate. Lightly smoky but with no shortage of fine, ripe fruit in an interesting honeysuckle and lime spectrum. Clean and fresh and extremely long. This definitely deserves to be priced above regular non-vintage champagne. Not quite delicate. Not quite creamy. Just hits the right note for a superior blend." - 17+ / 20 Points, Jancis Robinson MW
