// 51% Pinot and 49% Syrah

"A silky, plush and fragrant wine showing the strawberry lift of Pinot Noir, with violets and white pepper of the cool fruited Syrah. Bright plums, flint, and mineral notes on the palate, this wine files down the exuberant fruit with a succulent juicy tannin bedrock." - Winemaker Notes

///

2022 Pinot Noir - $42 on special; $48 RRP

"With great expression and definition from the cool vintage, showing lifted notes of cranberry, wild raspberry, raspberry leaf, rosehip red florals and a hint of wood spice and creamy oak influence. Light on its feet, the palate has a plush silky drive through the mouth, displaying red and black cherry fruit, Satsuma plums, oak buried beneath, and filed back by a necessary line of mineral tannin." - Winemaker Notes

///

2021 Blewitt Springs Shiraz - $59 on special; $67 RRP

On the palate, it exhibits a finely wrought core of intense fruit, framed by persistent sandy tannins, and kept taut by a line of natural acidity." - Winemaker Notes

2020 Onkaparinga Shiraz - $59 on special; $67 RRP

"A lifted but deep expression of McLaren Vale shiraz, tending towards blue and back fruits, Garrigue herbs, picked necessarily early to retain freshness, and layered in shyly supporting French Oak. Powerful on the palate, this is wine is an interplay between the waves of intense crunchy plumlike fruit, and the tensile strength of the mineral and tannin laden structure beneath." - Winemaker Notes

2020 Kintsugi GSM - $75 on special; $85 RRP

"Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese art of “golden joinery”, the creation of enduring beauty from broken fragments of ancient pottery as they are pieced together with lacquer laced with gold. It befits our desire to meticulously blend only our very best parcels of old vine fruit from a single year. An elegant, but deeply fruited wine, showing aromatic floral red fruit lift, and spice from old vine Grenache, built upon intense blue fruits and violets of dry grown Mataro and Shiraz." - Winemaker Notes

Whites of Italy -
Specials & Tasting Lineup
Saturday 16th September 12 to 2pm

2022 Colomba Principe di Granatey Grillo (Sicily) - $20 on special; $23 RRP

"Vibrant, sapid, Mediterranean. This Grillo pure fully represents the varietal character of one of the main distinct white grape vines of Western Sicily, spread especially in the area of Trapani. Grapes are carefully hand harvested and then processed in the winery through soft pressing. The following fermentation takes place at controlled-temperature for about 12 days. Pleasant and delicate: it's distinguished by elegant scents of yellow pulped fruit" - Winemaker Notes

///

2021 Nicola Bergaglio Gavi Minaia (Piedmont) - $34 on special; $39 RRP

"From a 5-ha single vineyard, called Minaia, of which part was planted on 1950 and part in 1980. This parcel was originally part of a larger vineyard owned by La Solca, which sold a plot to Bergaglio. A relative inherited the remainder of the holding, which became Il Poggio di Gavi. The first vintage of Miniaia was in 1987. Brilliant straw. The same subtlety on the nose as the Comune di Gavi Rovereto, but with more depth, complexity and purity. Purity is the key. Dramatic palate of fine acidity cutting through the elegant fruit. Enormous purity of citrus fruit, while the energetic acidity comes in waves. Electrifying finish." - 18/20 Points, Walter Speller, JancisRobinson.com

///

2021 Benito Ferrara Terra d'Uva Greco (Campania) - $43 on special; $49 RRP

"A wealth of dried daffodils and buttercups vies with riper peaches and apricots for control on the nose. The medium-to full-bodied palate is so cleanly cut through by vivacious acidity, not to mention sliced nectarines and green apples. Brilliant minerality on the fine yet textured finish." - 93 Points, James Suckling (on previous vintage)

///

2022 Vietti Roero Arneis (Piedmont) - $48 on special; $55 RRP

"Straw-yellow colour with fresh floral, citrus and melon aromas, and notes of minerals and almonds. A dry, medium-bodied wine with fresh acidity. Well-balanced, elegant and with good complexity and persistence." - Winemaker Notes

///

2021 Calabretta Carricante (Etna, Sicily) - $49 on special; $56 RRP

"Made from 95%+ Carricante with a little Catarratto, Grecanico and Insolia that are mixed in the vineyard. One third of the vines are 60-80 years old. Steely intensity with lemon zest and juice with white flowers and pronounced minerality, this is crisp and dry with refreshing acidity." - Importer Notes

///

2021 Antonio Caggiano Béchar Fiano (Campania) - $50 on special; $57 RRP

"A color that blends from the straw yellow to gold. Fruity and floral scents with hints of aromatic herbs. A complex wine with a good balance between softness and acidity, with an after taste of almonds." - Winemaker Notes

///

2021 Cantina Terlan Cuvée White Blend (Alto Adige) - $52 on special; $59 RRP

"A very complex wine thanks to the composition of the three most traditional Terlan white wine varieties Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Pinot Blanc, which makes up the main part, ensures freshness and a good acidity, Chardonnay flatters with softness and warmth while Sauvignon complements the cuvée with its fine aroma. " - Rudi Kofler, Cellarmaster

///

2021 A Scia 'Cinque Terre' Bianco (Liguria) - $57 on special; $65 RRP

"Vinified and fermented in first and second passage French oak barriques. Batonnage and ageing for about 7 months. The typicality of the Bosco, Albarola and Vermentino grapes is thus completed by the soft aromatic complexity of the wood and the delicacy of the vanilla notes." - Importer Notes

///

2020 Ronco dei Tassi 'Fosarin' (Friuli) - $66 on special; $75 RRP

"Friulano, the region’s most important grape (the locals still call it Tocai, by the way) is outstanding and there is no better grape to pair with a plate of prosciutto (especially if it’s from d’Osvaldo). From a small parcel of 40-year-old vines, the wine is fleshy with a creamy texture and hints of peach and almond with the classic minerality of the Collio. Fosarin, a blend of 40% Friulano, 40% Pinot Bianco and 20% Malvasia, is fresh and fruity in its youth, building complexity with time in the bottle to reveal a full, rich palate with wonderful depth – a worthy and great value Tre Bicchieri winner." - Importer Notes /// 2016 La Castellada 'Collio' Friulano (Collio) - $82 on special; $94 RRP "A rich and structured still white wine, with intense and complex aromas of apricot, wild flowers and potted herbs. A deep and full-bodied flavour with persistence." - Winemaker Notes
