Paul Jaboulet & La Nerthe Offer

Paul Jaboulet & La Nerthe Offer

Published by The Wine Emporium on 4th Feb 2022

This week in the shop, we're busy preparing for the arrival of some marvellous French stock, all hailing from the Rhône Valley - Paul Jaboulet from the north, and La Nerthe from the south! If it's something more full-bodied and savoury that you've been craving, these three 100% Syrah wines from Jaboulet impressed us deeply, showing superb layers of dark fruit and complex tannins that lather the palate with deft balance. Alternatively, for something a little brighter and more silky, the two GSMs from La Nerthe have long been customer-favourites, bringing a linear and aromatic nose one would expect from a southern Rhône, and also giving those more subtle touches of spice, citrus, and moreish minerality. Red fans certainly have a lot to love here!

This is a pre-arrival offer and the wines should be ready for to be shipped out / collected on Thursday 10th of February 2022. Prices valid until then.

- PAUL JABOULET - NORTHERN RHÔNE - 100% SYRAH –

2019 Crozes-Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert - $75 per bottle ; $85 RRP

"Seemingly refined by the additional elevage since I reviewed a barrel sample last year, the 2019 Crozes Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert remains a big, rich, dark-fruited and almost tarry effort, but this full-bodied wine is pleasantly velvety and marked by savory notes of scorched wood and black olive tapenade that linger on the finish." - 93+ Points, Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate

2019 Hermitage La Maison Bleue- $159 per bottle ; $180 RRP

"A superb Maison Bleue, the 2019 Hermitage La Maison Bleue seamlessly blends cherries and cassis into a purple mashup of fruit carried on rich, velvety waves of texture. Full-bodied and intense, it finishes complex and savory, adding notes of olive, clove and cedar on the long, luxurious finish. Already approachable, it should drink well through 2040." - 95 Points, Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate

2019 Hermitage La Chapelle - $480 per bottle ; $550 RRP

"Last year, I giddily speculated whether the 2019 Hermitage La Chapelle would warrant a 100-point score. While close—and I wouldn't completely discount it reaching that pinnacle in another decade or two—I'm not sure this wine is as good as I thought. It boasts exciting aromas of roasted meat, mocha, crushed stone, plum and cassis on the nose. It's full-bodied, concentrated, richly tannic and velvety in texture. It's long and complex on the finish, adding hints of cracked pepper and salted licorice. And yet, as much as I enjoyed tasting it and as undeniably great it is, angels didn't sing from the heavens. Maybe next bottle." - 98+ Points, Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate

- LA NERTHE - SOUTHERN RHÔNE - GSM BLEND –

2019 Cassagnes de La Nerthe Côtes du Rhône Villages - $39 per bottle ; $45 RRP

"Dark & intensely coloured, it comes across welcome & airy & lacy in texture, while still showing ample concentration. A blend of Syrah, Grenache & Mourvedre from limestone & sand soils, it delivers notes of ripe cherries & mulberries, plus hint of roses, garrigue, orange zest & dried spices. It's uncommonly elegant for a Villages wine with a long, silky finish." - 91 Points, Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate

2017 Châteauneuf-du-Pape - $105 per bottle ; $119 RRP

"Ripe, luminous wild strawberries & black cherry flavours explode from the nose to finish in a hedonistic, intensely fruity blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre & Cinsault. Its gorgeously primary in youth with a zesty mineral undertone, but its concentrated enough to improve, gaining earthier complexities through to 2030 & beyond." - 95 Points, Wine Enthusiast
