Following the warm response from bundling together the latest disgorgements of our Benoit and Burtin imported champagnes as one, we got to thinking what other bubbly pairings felt fitting in bringing together for Champagne Monday. Plenty of potential picks, with a few now sitting in the pipeline for other weeks in the future, but the brightly-toned charm and striking value behind Perrier-Jouët's NV creations remain hard to pass up.
With one a toasty golden delight and its companion a salmon-pink spell of spice and savoury bite, together this pair would make for sensory joy across a long lunch or evening events, popping the tropical and citric-laden Grand Brut with a hearty central meal (a crab lasagne, creamy clam linguine, or some foie gras are the first in our thoughts), before the Blason Rosé can swing its allure alongside dessert (go for a sticky date pudding, pavlova or classic crème brûlée), so topped and textured with red apple skin, red berries, grapefruit and biscuit.
It has been current cellarmaster Séverine Frerson's objective to maintain a sweeping sense of personality and gastronomy across her wines, appreciating that while the average restaurant goer in today's culture might be ordering less to the table in the way of whole bottles, there still remains the tremendous appeal for the perfect palate mingling between what they're drinking and what they're eating. In that sense, we thought of very few duos that will appease the senses over the long summer more blissfully than PJ's current disgorgements.
Available at one great price in the bundle, or as individual specials for the coming week!
