A truly important Piedmont name that reverberates and shines around the world of wine, Vietti is a star represenative of the power, class and inimitable style of Nebbiolo. These wines, particularly their most recent vintages, present a remarkable marriage between energy and tension; each unique label a result of profound understanding and interpretation of their individual terroirs in the heart of the Langhe. The best compliment we can hand them (and indeed any winery out there) is they are a true example where total talent and prowess out in the vineyards meets harmoniously with the long-term vision in the winemaking and the cellar.
Saturday 17th August brings in several of their great expressions to our tasting table! Between 12 and 2pm, we'll kick things off with the refreshing zest found in their complex Moscato d'Asti and fine-boned Arneis, before taking a trip into the driving dark fruits found in their Tre Vigne Barbera, Perbacco Nebbiolo, 'Castiglione' Barolo and 'Roncaglie' Barbaresco! We hope to take you on this journey, whether you've long been a Piedmont enthusiast or looking to experience one of its great names for the first time.

The Tasting Lineup -
Moscato d'Asti 2023 -
$42 on special this week; $47 RRP
Half bottles available ($24 on special)
"Bright straw-yellow color with slightly shimmering hints of gold. Intense aromas of ripe yellow fruit (peach, apricot), floral notes (rose petals, acacia flowers) and ginger. Sweet and delicate on the palate, with modest acidity, good balance and complexity. Hints of fresh apricot on the finish." - Winemaker Notes
Roero Arneis 2022 - $48 on special this week; $55 RRP
"Straw-yellow colour with fresh floral, citrus and melon aromas, and notes of minerals and almonds. A dry, medium-bodied wine with fresh acidity. Well-balanced, elegant and with good complexity and persistence." - Winemaker Notes
Barbera d'Asti Tre Vigne 2021 - $50 on special this week; $58 RRP
"Ruby red color with mineral and vanilla notes. Medium-bodied, dry wine with a crisp acidity (perfect for the whole meal) and soft tannins. This Barbera is very well balanced, with a good complexity and a red cherry finish." - Winemaker Notes
"The 2021 Barbera d'Asti Tre Vigne marries the natural intensity of the year with the savory minerality typical of Asti. Dark cherry, grilled herbs, menthol, licorice and crushed rocks all race out of the glass. This is another stellar wine from Vietti." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous
Langhe Perbacco Nebbiolo 2021-$56 on special this week; $64 RRP
Magnums (2020 vintage) available at $130 on special
"Medium deep ruby color. Quite intense and generous fruity nose (red berries) along with floral and spicy notes, a hint of menthol and hard candy. On the palate medium bodied, showing notable intensity while retaining an essentially mid-weight style. Strong, intense and quite powerful when young, evolving to a complex and elegant, very well balanced wine with ageing. The tannins are harmoniously integrated in the fruit structure of the wine. Long lasting aftertaste with good freshness." - Winemaker Notes
'Castiglione' Barolo 2019 - $135 on special this week; $155 RRP
"This is the most accessible Barolo from Vietti and the wine that casts the biggest net in terms of fruit sourcing from across many MGA sites. The 2019 Barolo Castiglione is a layered and generous wine that reflects the main takeaways offered by this very successful vintage. In fact, because this wine is not from a single site, it speaks more to the quality of the vintage than it does to any one specific vineyard. The Castiglione reveals generous richness and concentrated cherry fruit with dark saturation and good structure that comes from the thicker skins developed on Nebbiolo grapes this year. It concludes with a salty mineral note that adds focus and elegance." - 95 Points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate
"The 2019 Barolo Castiglione is elegant, translucent and classy. Crushed red berry fruit, orange peel, mint and cinnamon all grace this elegant, wonderfully nuanced Barolo from Vietti. I especially admire the energy here. In many vintages, the Castiglione is easy going and quite accessible, but I see the 2019 needing a few more years to come into its own. I especially admire its focus and cut." - 94 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous
Barbaresco 'Roncaglie' 2020 - $289 on special this week; $330 RRP
*Limited availability!
"The Vietti 2020 Barbaresco Roncaglie Masseria has bright rose, cherry, redcurrant and angel food cake with strawberries. There are mineral notes as well, and the fruit unfolds over the palate with gentle intensity. There is some oak spice, but it is very well integrated; and the wine shows good balance, especially where the tannins versus acidity is concerned." - 94 Points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate
"The 2020 Barbaresco, from vines in Roncaglie, sizzles with tension. Bright, red- toned fruit, orange peel, mint, white pepper and crushed rocks are all beautifully delineated. In many vintages, the Roncaglie is quite showy. That is hardly the case in 2020, a vintage in which the wine is classically austere and in need of time. Super-classic." - 94+ Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous
'Monvigliero' Barolo 2020 - $459 on special this week; $530 RRP
*Limited availability!
"A relatively new departure for Vietti, the 2020 Barolo Monvigliero is soft and delicate with pretty floral aromas, dried iris, powdered spice and a hint of tar or road pavement. The inaugural vintage was 2018. Made with 60% whole-cluster fruit during fermentation, the wine has a moment of tartness, punchy highlights, sweet grenadine and cranberry jelly. It ages in large oak casks for 24 months." - 95 Points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate
The 2020 Barolo Monvigliero is a very pretty, ethereal wine. Crushed flowers, mint, bright, red-toned fruit, dried herbs and spice are nicely lifted. This pretty, nuanced Barolo is very classy, but also on the lighter side. The 2020 is beguiling, but also a bit ethereal—this fruit may have been picked too early. - 92 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

2020 Vietti 'Castiglione' Barolo - $129 per bottle; RRP $150
(Very Limited Availability)
"Fragrant, polished and vibrant right out of the gate, the 2020 Barolo Castiglione displays beautifully-lifted notes of crushed red berry fruit, rose petal, mint, white pepper and orange peel. This classically built, mid-weight Barolo is classy to the core. Like all the 2020s here, it will benefit from time in bottle or a good decant." - 93 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous
2020 Vietti Barolo 'Brunate' - $459 per bottle; RRP $530
(Very Limited Availability)
"The Vietti 2020 Barolo Brunate has a dark and spicy side that is infused throughout the fruit. Dark cherry and blackcurrant are folded into ferrous earth, grilled rosemary, aniseed and a hint of fresh mint. Brunate tends to be quite austere and firm in terms of its aromas, and this vintage shows those qualities well. In fact, the character of the site comes through clearly. The wine has a precise, angular personality, and the fruit feels compact." - 95 Points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate
2020 Vietti Barolo 'Ravera' - $459 per bottle; RRP $530
(Very Limited Availability)
"The Vietti 2020 Barolo Ravera offers dark fruit, cherry and blackcurrant enhanced by soft spice. You also get a sun-kissed note of eggplant, tomato leaf and ferrous earth. Ravera displays strong lines with good acidity and firm tannic backbone. It closes dry and ages in large oak botte only. This is one of the most eyeballed MGAs sites. Ravera, with its open mountain skyline and cool temperatures, is seen as one of the best sites in the appellation, especially as the climate changes." - 95 Points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate
2020 Vietti Barolo 'Rocche di Castiglione' - $459 per bottle; RRP $530
(Very Limited Availability)
"The 2020 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is a magical wine from a magical site. It marries finesse and volume to a degree that is not found in most of the other wines in this range. Castiglione Falletto is the center of the Barolo production zone, literally and figuratively, the place where many different soil types meet. As a result, the wines often possess mind-blowing balance, which is very much the case here." - 96 Points, Antonio Galloni
2020 Vietti Barolo 'Lazzarito' - $459 per bottle; RRP $530
(Very Limited Availability)
"Lazzarito stands out as one of the strongest wines in this portfolio of new releases from Vietti. With fruit from Serralunga d'Alba, the 2020 Barolo Lazzarito comes in at a very high threshold in terms of complexity, offering dark cherry, crème de cassis, violet macaron, dried herb and lavender. The wine's perfumes remind me of the south of France in summer. It shows elegant tannins, streamlined intensity and good acidity." - 96+ Points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate
