"The 2022 vintage of the Paul Blanck Schlossberg Riesling Grand Cru comes from the terraced slopes of Schlossberg, an exceptional vineyard situated at an altitidue of 200-300m. Here, the Kaysersberg migmatites and the intruding Thannenkirch granite create a unique, sandy, and clay-rich soil that is highly fertile and mineral-rich. This special terroir, rich in minerals like potassium, magnesium, fluorine, and phosphorus, contributes significantly to the finesse and aromatic complexity of the wine.
The juice is extracted with meticulous care using an air-bag press, ensuring a slow and gentle process that preserves the integrity of the grapes by avoiding the crushing of stalks and pips. Natural fermentation begins spontaneously, driven by the indigenous yeasts present in the juice, and continues for four to ten weeks. This process takes place in stainless-steel vats with precise temperature control, allowing the wine to fully express the characteristic aromas and minerality of the 2022 vintage." - Cellarhand, Importer
