"We always said the 2021 Field Blend would be a one off, defined by the vintage conditions that made it possible to harvest Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet all on the same day. " - Penley Estate, Winemaker
"I couldn’t find anything online about this wine, but I found a tiny blurb in the deepest depths of interwebs that said something about three varieties ripening at the same time so there’s three of something in this wine, I think. My oh my, I keep on this, but Penley is streaks ahead in the contemporary evolution of Coonawarra – Wynn’s of course has now joined the fray too – but geez, this is next level. Go Kate Goodman and co! And look at that label! Say what? They’ll get turfed out of Coonawarra next.
Proper slurpy, rich and dark fruited vin de soif style. Yes thanks. Blackberries, plum, black olive. Dense and mouth-filling, plush, spiked gently with clove and salt bush and dried leaf characters. Finishes ripe fruited, a little warm and palate-staining, all in the best sense. An honest, lush, delicious, moreish hunk of deep red wine." - 93 Points, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front
