"The just-released 2012 has quite a stern nose with some herbal intimations. Sommelier Alexandre Freguin describes it as ‘very restrained with lots of finesse.’ It’s actually drier on the finish than you would expect from the 6g/L of dosage, right at the border between Brut and Extra Brut. ‘It’s a baby,’ says cellar master Séverine Frerson. Flavour variety develops slowly on the palate, showing chalk-driven impressions, with lots of hidden depth. In fact, hidden may be the word to describe the present state of the wine.
