Dr. Michael Peterkin, with a medical doctorate on top of his degree in viticulture, is the icon winemaker behind Pierro wines. LTC typically only has 'a Little Touch of Chardonnay' but 2024 has Chenin in the blend as well. The vineyard in Willyrabrup, Margaret River, is a relatively untouched region, free of pollutants, chemicals and surrounded on three sides by cool ocean, making the warmer 2024 vintage a breeze. Dr Peterkin was the original trendsetter of the close planted vineyard in Australia, vines are planted to a density of 4,000 to 5,500 per hectare (typical Australian is 1900 vines per hectare).
"A little touch of two Cs here. Not Les Trois Cuvées, rather Les Quatres Cuvées. Lime and grapefruit, a little cut grass, green tea, fennel and spice. It's bright and has some lime and grapefruit tang, though it also has some macadamia nut richness to it and kiwi fruit juiciness. Texture is a little powdery, and it finishes with good length and sort of gin and tonic bite. A very good and interesting wine. As an aside, it looked better after being open for a day." - 94 Points, Gary Walsh for The Wine Front
"The 2024 L.T.C. is a little musky aromatically, leading with a hint of thiol that leans into the passion fruit, lemongrass, guava and rock melon and then over into lanolin and beeswax. On the palate, the acidity is lemony and pert, and it penetrates most aspects of the fruit. The wine is tightened by the acid and only opens out again through the finish. An unusual wine, but it routinely shows its best with several years in bottle. One might suggest that this warm vintage could lend itself to earlier drinking; however, the wine was made in warm vintages previously, so it is not entirely new ground. It's a classic cuvée for a reason." - 93 points, Erin Larkin for Robert Parker Wine Advocate
