Description / Reviews
"The Dardi di Bussia sub-area is historically considered one of the great Barolo crus. Intense garnet red, wide and elegant bouquet delicately spiced with hints of flowers, small red fruits and goudron. Rich structure on the palate supported by soft tannins, enveloped in ripe fruit and liquorice. A 'majestic' traditional Nebbiolo with the power, harmony, and complexity of a great orchestra! Extraordinary ageing potential. It is perfect with red meat and furry game dishes, but also for very rich fish dishes, such as baked turbot, as well as for a fine cheese dinner." - Poderi Colla, Winemaker
"Colla's 2021 Barolo Bussia Dardi Le Rose is elegant and sophisticated. Wild cherry, incense, blood orange, tobacco and rose petal lift effortlessly from the glass, supported by beams of tannin that lend shape as well as energy. Still tightly wound, the 2021 is going to need a few years to come into its own. There's a certainly a lot to look forward to." - 95 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous
"The 2021 is bright and expressive to begin, displaying sage and thyme-inflected cherry and raspberry. Pressed violet joins in on the palate, buoyant and agile and never feeling weighed down – yet it doesn’t lack fruit depth. The tannins are finely extracted though still a bit austere. Tobacco and allspice appear on the finish. The Colla family has a deep connection with the Dardi subsection of Bussia as this is where Beppe Colla crafted one of the first site-specified Barolos in 1961. His winemaking philosophy lives on through his brother and nephew. Maceration time is never longer than three weeks and ageing is exclusively in large casks – predominantly Slavonian oak." - 94 Points, Michaela Morris, Decanter
