Description / Reviews

"It’s the emblem of the winery, the way through which the estate’s style shows itself, costantly looking for elegance and purity. It comes from the grapes harvested from the Rizzi Cru, which is a large vineyard varying in different altitudes, exposures and soils. This is a classical Barbaresco; notes of fresh fruit and underbrush coexist, giving it imminence and longevity." - Rizzi, Winemaker

"Cherry, raspberry, spice and white pepper, a fair bit of perfume, walnuts, liquorice root and mint. It’s medium-bodied, bright and red fruited, tannin has a light grainy grip and there’s plenty of spice bedded into the wine. It’s a bit stony, acidity is bright and balanced, and the finish is long with plenty of dusty traction. Very good. And something of a bargain too. This producer clearly values finesse and energy in their wines. There’s so much to like here." - 94 Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

"The 2021 Barbaresco Rizzi is an attractive, delicate wine. Orange peel, cinnamon, kirsch, tea leaves and cedar give this mid-weight Barbaresco lovely aromatic presence to match its translucent feel. This is very nicely done." - 93 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"This offers notes of spiced cherries, dried raspberries and hints of of licorice and walnut on the nose. Medium-bodied, dry and chalky on the palate with firm tannins and a juicy core of fruit. Very attractive and flavorful. Better after 2026." - 92 Points, James Suckling
