"2024 was a classic Beechworth vintage. Long warm days and cool nights allowed slow and even ripening. This perfect ripeness was only possible due to the small crop per vine as mandated by our mature, close planted vineyard. The Savaterre DNA shines in this vintage. Powerful, focused wines of finesse, elegance and precision. All the 2024 wines are at the top of their game. The 2024 Savaterre Chardonnay is a powerful yet seductive wine that will continue to evolve and reveal its multiple facets over many years. Straw yellow with flecks of silver and chartreuse reflecting in the sunlight. Initial aromas of white flowers, lime blossom and stone fruits, toasted hazelnut, white nectarines, pink grapefruit, beeswax and sandalwood. Some flint but not overt. Classic old world structure frames the wine carrying the amalgam of harmonious flavours to a long and satisfying finish. This wine will age beautifully for 20 years." - Keppell Smith, Winemaker
"This is a richer iteration of Savaterre Chardonnay with not much in the way of struck match (though, granted, that can sometimes vary between bottles in my experience). It’s glossy and creamy but has firm cut of grapefruit acidity, there’s fine powdery grip to texture, a savoury nutty element and something of a sour yoghourt flavour, honey nougat, spicy oak, a mix of nectarine, pear, lime and melon with a tangy and savoury finish of outstanding length." - 96 Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
