"Full red robe; the bouquet has an inky density, is well charged, with a rolling aroma of mixed berry fruits that are stewed in style. It can open nicely. The palate sets a good tone of pleasing richness, sustains that well into a well furnished close, plenty of layered texture there, a few notes of mineral clarity. "The 2020 is more obviously fragrant and bright. These are two distinctly different wines from two distinctly different vintages. There are gently spicy elements, wilting flowers, perfume and a lovely array of blue/black fruit. While the 19 is built around concentration, structure and presence the 20 is marked by a sense of overall harmony and transparency. There is plenty of fruit weight and volume but the tannins are more evident and they are rockier, most grit and grunt, they are perfectly matched with the seductive, sweet fruit but they are most definitely a definitive aspect to the wine. It’s text book stuff really." ROSCOE
