Description
"In homage to Guigal’s famous La Mouline, La Turque and La Landonne – my vision for this wine is to attempt to age a single vineyard Heathcote Shiraz in 100% new oak for a minimum of 36 months. This is the ninth release of Syrahmi La La. It is produced in tiny volumes, from a single barrel of Shiraz and will only ever be released in great vintages. The wine is released only when it’s believed to be ready with a minimum of 6 years of age." - Adam Foster, Syrahmi
"La La is power with poise. Bold in deep blood red-garnet hues, it opens with a fragrance rich in ripe black fruits, dark baking spices, dried cranberry, sage, anise, dusty cacao, cardamom and a hint of black pepper. It's complex, still unfolding even as a six-year-old, gloriously earthy and bold and at the same time offering a fineness of expression across the mid-palate enlivened by herbs and spice and delivered in elegant, fine tannins. Judging by its length and detailed construction, it's got some ways still to go." - 97 Points, Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion
"Remarkable colour for a 6 year-old shiraz: deep red-purple, and the bouquet is very complex as well as fresh and youthful, but the depth and complexity are arresting. There are spice and herb whole-bunch ferment touches as well as mellowing berry aromas and a lick of chocolate. It's full bodied but with remarkably soft tannins that caress as well as fill the mouth. Four-plus years in barrel have not left an oaky mark on the wine. A hint of VA is just a part of the wine's complexity. Very impressive shiraz, drinking beautifully now and for many years hence. (100% whole-bunch, 100% new oak for 52 months, bottled August 2023)" - 96 Points, Huon Hooke, The Real Review
