"The 2016 vintage was named in honour of Louisa Rose. Named Australian Winemaker of the Year in 2008 by Gourmet Traveller WINE, Louisa has built a reputation with white wine, especially Riesling and Viognier from our valued Eden Valley vineyards. She is a celebrated champion of these varietals across the wine world. The colour is a deep brick red, reflective of it’s age. Rich aromas of cocoa powder, warm cassis, black olive tapenade, ground coffee and touches of Mediterranean herbs fill the glass. The palate has that lovely Cabernet crunch of red berries with layers of chocolate, coffee and liquorice that leads to a fine tension that drives through to a rustic ironstone tannin finish." - Winemaker Notes
"The wine is deeply coloured and actually a little peculiar in that the individual characters of cabernet sauvignon and shiraz are initially hard to find – it more shows aromas of the baked red earths and Terracotta of the Barossa before some leafy cassis slowly awakens matched by youthful oak influence. The palate is then reserved but does show significant mouth-coating tannins seamlessly interwoven with outstanding fruit plus an almost never-ending finish. The overall experience is truly seamless, the wine even and unforced, and is just a great drink showing superb balance; exceptional winemaking from Kevin Glastonbury and his team with fruit in true harmony." - 98 Points, Angus Hughson, Wine Pilot
"Cool summer and autumn nights tempered warm days in 2016, producing great intensity to the iodine and espresso- edged nose and palate here. With silky blackberry and currant, fleshier mulberry and refreshing blood plum, the palate is motile, its juicy persistence a foil to the creamy, savoury oak (French barriques, Hungarian and American hogsheads, 28% new) and dynamic snare of ripe but present tannins." - 96 Points, Sarah Ahmed, Decanter
